Sonitpur police on Thursday arrested Mrinmoy Dawka, the jailer of Tezpur Central Jail, for allegedly molesting a woman jail inmate on the jail premises.
Sonitpur SP Mugdhajyoti Deb Mahanta said based on a complaint filed by the husband of the woman jail inmate, Dwaka was arrested on Thursday.
The husband of the victim recently lodged an FIR at Tezpur Sadar Police station alleging the accused jailer allegedly molested her wife.
A case (No-841/20) under section 354 (A) / 409/ 376 (C) of the IPC was registered against him in Tezpur police station.
A separate case (No-1002/20) was also registered against the jailer in Tezpur Sadar Police station under section 294,354, 342 and 506 of the IPC.
The jailer was produced before the Sonitpur CJM’s court on Thursday, which sent him to 14-day judicial custody.
