Assam has registered 1,001 new COVID19 positive cases, taking the stateโ€™s overall tally to 17,807.

Confirming the news, Assam health minister Himanta Biswa Sarma in his latest tweet on the stateโ€™s COVID19 status said out of the 1,001 cases, 513 cases have been reported from Guwahati alone.

โ€œAlert ~ 1001 new #COVID19 ve+ patients in Assam, 513 in Guwahati alone,โ€ health minister Sarma tweeted.

Asking the people not to panic, the health minister has requested the people to keep patience and take precautions.

โ€œKeep patience & take required precautions. Donโ€™t panic, for this too shall pass!โ€ the health minister said.

Sarma said Assam currently has 6,348 active COVID19 cases.

Earlier, a total of 11,416 COVID19 were discharged from various hospitals across Assam after they tested negative for the virus.

On Monday, a total of 522 patients, who were earlier infected by the virus, have been discharged from hospitals across the state.

The deadly disease has claimed the lives of 40 people while 3 positive cases have been migrated from the state.

In a tweet at 9.22 pm on Monday, health minister Sarma informed that 4 more persons in Assam have died of COVID19 infections.

The COVID19 victims include 31-year-old Uttam Das, a resident of Golaghat, 62-year-old Keshab Kumar Barua, a resident of Kamrup (M), 30-year-old Kartik Kalita (30) of Kamrup (M) and 56-year-old Dr. Jahan Iqbal Ahmed, an Associate Professor of Gauhati Medical College Hospital (GMCH), Sarma said.
