The Tirap and West Siang districts of Arunachal Pradesh were on Monday declared coronavirus free after all three Covid-19 patients of the two districts recovered from the virus.

Prior to this, Tirap had two active cases while the West Siang district had one. The districts now have no active cases of Covid-19, officials said.

The positive cases of Tirap were detected on June 15 and both the patients, who were asymptomatic, were under medical observation at the covid care centre in Khonsa, the district headquarters.

The patients were discharged from the centre after their swab samples tested negative in two consecutive tests.

Tirap district medical officer, Dr Koblem Mossang, who handed over the discharge certificates to the recovered patients, advised them to stay on strict home quarantine for the next 14 days and call the Covid-19 control room for any assistance.

Deputy Commissioner Bhanu Prabha appreciated the efforts of all the frontline workers and appealed to them to continue working in the same spirit in the days to come.

The swab sample of the lone Covid-19 positive man in West Siang district was also found to be negative after two consecutive tests.

The patient, an army man, was admitted in covid care centre in Aalo after he was found positive on June 26 last.

West Siang additional deputy commissioner, Liyi Bagra, handed over the discharge certificate to the recovered patient, who in return, expressed his gratitude to all the frontline workers for their support and for helping him, recover from the virus.

Meanwhile, seven persons from Itanagar Capital Region, two from Changlang and four from West Kameng were released from the respective covid care centers they were in, on Sunday following their recovery.

The Itanagar Capital Region has a total of 123 active Covid-19 cases, the highest in the state as of June 12 and it is followed by Changlang with 38 cases.

The West Kameng district has 15 active cases while the Namsai and Lower Subansiri districts have 14 and 12 cases respectively.

Arunachal at present has 219 active cases while 138 patients have recovered from the virus so far.

The state has registered two Covid-19 related deaths.
