Cotton University has decided not to hold the second and fourth semester examinations of UG, BCA and MCA courses and the second semester exam of PG courses.
The university has decided to promote the students based on marks obtained in mid-semester examination and the previous semester examination.
“The students shall be promoted to the next semester based on the proposed UGC formula of 50 per cent weightage from mid-semester examination and 50 per cent weightage from previous semester examinations subject to the examination rules of the University.
“Moreover, the online classes of such new semesters shall begin from the August 3 next,” DK Das, registrar of the University, said in a statement.
He said the final semester examinations for all the UG and PG programmes along with their arrear or betterment papers of even semesters (old course), if any and as applicable, shall be held online with UG starting tentatively in the first fortnight and PG starting in the second fortnight of August.
“The detailed plan, programme and guidelines to students will be notified on the University website,” the statement added.
The decisions were taken at the meeting of executive council of the Cotton University, held online on Wednesday.
The meeting decided that the University shall adopt the revised guidelines of UGC dated July 6 and the references therein for the process of evaluation and awarding grades for the current even UG and PG semesters of the University.
This was also recommended by the academic council meeting of the University held on June 26 last based on UGC guideline of April 29 with a note of inclusion of its subsequent revised guidelines, it added.
