Sensation prevails as a fire broke out in Block-B of the Assam Secretariat at Dispur in Guwahati on Tuesday.

Confirming the fire incident, state chief secretary Kumar Sanajay Krishna in a tweet on Tuesday said there is nothing to worry as the fire that broke out in the Secretariat was not “big”.

Regarding the cause of the fire, chief secretary Krishna said someone left a fan in Block-B of the Secretariat complex on which generated heat and a fire broke out.

The fire was immediately doused, Krishna said.

He also informed that nothing was lost due to the fire incident.

“Nothing to worry, there is no big fire in Secretariat. Someone left the fan on in block-B and that led to heat and small fire which was immediately doused. No loss!” chief secretary Krishna tweeted.

However, according to media reports, several documents were destroyed due to the fire incident.

A number of fire tenders were used to douse the fire, said reports.
