Assam has recorded the highest-ever spike of 1,202 COVID19 positive cases within 24 hours, taking the state’s overall tally to 11,001.
Confirming the news, Assam health minister Himanta Biswa Sarma in his latest tweet on the state’s COVID19 status said out of the total 1,202 new positive cases reported in the state, 777 are from Guwahati alone.
“Alert ~ In the biggest spike ever, Assam on 4th July reported 1202 cases, 777 of these from Guwahati City alone. Time for all of us to be extra vigilant,” health minister Sarma said.
With the new cases, the total number of active cases in Assam has risen to 4,657.
Earlier, a total of 6,327 COVID19 patients were discharged from various civil, district and model hospitals across Assam after they tested negative.
The deadly disease has claimed the lives of 14 persons in Assam so far while 3 cases have migrated from the state.
