A suspected Ulfa (I) linkman was apprehended by 9th Battalion of Rajputana Rifles on Tuesday at Nadua in Dibrugarh district. The arrested linkman was identified as Sanjoy Das of Rohmoria in Dibrugarh.
“Based on specific intelligence received from local sources regarding presence of Ulfa (I) linkman in Nadua area we carried out a joint operation with police and apprehended him from his residence. We have found fake Indian currencies in the denomination of Rs 2000 amounting to Rs 1 lakh from his possession,” army source told Northeast Now.
The apprehended Ulfa (I) linkman was involved in various extortion cases and exchange of fake currencies on behalf of the outfit.
The apprehended linkman was handed over to Rohmoria police station. An FIR U/S 489(A) of IPC was lodged at Rohmoria police station.
The 9th Battalion of the Rajputana Rifles of the Indian Army has successfully cracked another racket involved in printing fake Indian currencies.
