The total number of Covid-19 cases in Manipur has increased to 1,056 with detection of 86 new positive cases, health department officials said.

A total of 86 persons including 53 males and 33 females were confirmed as new COVID 19 positive cases, said a press release issued by the COVID 19 common control room.

The cases were confirmed at the VRDLs (Virus Research & Diagnosis Laboratory) of RIMS (Regional Institute of Medical Sciences-78) and JNIMS (Jawaharlal Institute of Medical Sciences-8) in the last 24 hours, it said.

The positive cases are from Bishnupur, Churachandpur, Imphal West, Imphal East, Jiribam, Kakching, Kamjong, Kangpokpi, Senapati, Tamenglong, Thoubal and Ukhrul districts.

Stating that they are being shifted to the COVID care facilities, the press release signed by Dr Khoirom Sasheekumar who is the spokesperson of the health department said that all necessary medical precautionary measures like containment and contact tracing are in place.

So far 26 persons are discharged of which five from Churachandpur district hospital, 16 from COVID care centre Meitram and ten discharged from RIMS after they were found COVID 19 free on real time PCR test.

“The total numbers of positive, active and recovered cases are 1056,702 and 354 respectively,” it stated.

Meanwhile 45,253 people were tested for Covid-19 till date in the state, another official source added.

Altogether 14,601 inmates were staying at quarantine centres including paid quarantine centres while 34,446 others completed quarantine.
