The district administration of Assam’s Kamrup (Metro) has closed down the Beltola daily market and the bi-weekly market with from Thursday.
This has been done keeping in view the increasing number of COVID-19 cases.
The additional deputy commissioner and chief executive officer of Kamrup District Disaster Management Authority in an order issued on Thursday stated that ‘in view of large gathering of people and non-maintenance of COVID-19 protocols including non-maintenance of social distance and also in view of increasing number of COVID-19 positive cases in Guwahati city, the Beltola daily market and the bi-weekly market with immediate effect’.
Any violation of this order will attract penal action under relevant provisions of Disaster Management Act, 2020, the order also said.
The order further stated that the decision has been approved by Kamrup (Metro) deputy commissioner and chairman of District Disaster Management Authority.
