The district administration of Assam’s Goalpara has brought glory to its people with 100 per cent coverage of the Centre’s ‘Ayushman Bharat Pradhan Mantri Jan Arogya Yojana (AB PM-JAY)’.
This scheme is a part of the union government’s National Health Policy which aims to provide free health coverage at the secondary and tertiary level to poor and vulnerable population.
PM-JAY is the world’s largest and fully state sponsored health assurance scheme which covers a population of the combined size of USA, Mexico and Canada.
It was launched in September 2018, under the aegis of Ministry of Health and Family Welfare in the country.
Through this, the Goalpara district has amazingly improved its ‘composite score’ as an aspirational district among the 150 pan-India districts.
It has bettered its previous performance and occupied 16th position by jumping from 68th within the last six months among the aspirational districts.
Notably, DONER minister Dr Jitendra Singh through a video conference on Sunday with the deputy commissioners of the aspirational districts appreciated the effort of the Goalpara district administration in its implementation of the government schemes like PM JAY.
He also mentioned its efficiency in handling the counter fight against the COVID-19 while dealing at the same time with the recent flash floods.
The DONER minister also praised the deputy commissioner Varnali Deka as a whole for her pioneering role in leading the district from the front.
Goalpara district is at present occupying 14th position in NITI Ayog’s delta rank on education.
