Acting on a complaint received the sleuths of District Legal Service Authority ChildLine Protection along with Hojai Police foiled a marriage of a minor girl at Shalbagan area under Hojai district on Thursday afternoon.
As per the reports, the minor girl bride who is less than 18 years of age, was all set to marry a boy on Thursday evening.
However, preliminary rituals before the marriage we’re already performed.
Talking to media persons, Ruhina Waris Choudhary, president, Hojai District Bar Association and Panel Advocate, DLSA said, “Acting on a complaint, we along with Child Protection Unit and Hojai Police reached at bride home, we did inspection, sought her age proof after full verification, we found her to be underage for marriage as per law, the bride age must 18 years for a valid marriage.”
Meanwhile, the minor girl has been sent at child protection home for proper counselling.
Notably, till date DLSA has been able to foil more then 50 child marriage after it’s inception this year.
Moreover along with this DLSA under the dynamic leadership of it’s general secretary Pronita Morang is continuously working for the welfare of the society.
