War hero Air Marshal Shiv Prasad Chakraborty, who took part in the 1971 Bangladesh Liberation War, died at his New Delhi residence. He was 90.
He was the first and the only Air Marshal from Tripura.
Shiv Prasad Chakraborty was suffering from various old-age ailments.
He is survived by his wife, one son, two daughters and a host of other relatives.
Shiva Prasad Chakraborty was born and raised in Tripura.
He joined the Indian Air Force in 1953.
He studied at Kirit Bikram Institution in Udaipur and Ishwar Pathshala in Comilla and graduated from Jadavpur.
The war veteran completed his Masters in Aeronautical Engineering in England.
He retired as the head of the Air Force Repair Division (Maintenance Command).
Tripura Chief Minister Biplob Kumar Dev mourned the death of the 1971 Indo-Pakistani war hero.
West Tripura MP Pratima Bhowmik also paid tributes to him.
