With nine fresh cases, the total number of persons tested positive for COVID-19 in Manipur climbed to 458 while the number of active cases is 367, according to official sources on Sunday night.
The COVID 19 common control room of the state in a press release on Sunday night said that the detection of nine new positive cases was received from the VRDLs (Virus Research and Diagnosis Laboratory) of Regional Institute of Medical Sciences and Jawaharlal Nehru Institute of Medical Sciences today.
Out of the new nine cases, five cases were reported from JNIMS while remaining four from RIMS.
Since the first COVID 19 case was detected in March, RIMS and JNIMS have been playing key roles dealing with COVID-19 positive patients as both the government runs medical institutes have the required facilities.
Now another 100 bedded COVID care centre in the outskirts of Imphal has been developed by the government authority in association with a private party.
Presently COVID-19 patients are being treated at RIMS, JNIMS, Bishnupur district hospital and newly opened COVID care centre at Meitram in Imphal West district.
