An Assam Police personnel in Guwahati tested COVID-19 positive on Friday.
The police personnel is from 8th APBN.
The jawan was transferred from Bongaigaon to Guwahati around one month back.
He was at a temporary camp at Netaji Vidyapeeth in Maligaon of the city.
Around 60-70 other jawans were also with the affected police personnel in the camp.
He was suffering from fever and cough for the last few days.
Last Tuesday, he himself went to Mahendra Mohan Choudhury Hospital (MMCH) for a swab test.
He was tested COVID-19 positive on Thursday night.
He is presently undergoing treatment at the MMCH.
The other jawans who came in contact with him have been quarantined at Netaji Vidyapeeth.
According to information available, the infected jawan was on duty at the quarantine centre of Sarusajai Stadium and Paltan Bazaar.
It is yet to be ascertained as to how he got coronavirus infection or from whom he contaminated the virus.
On the other hand, an 11-year-old infant from the Rupnagar area of the city has tested COVID-19 positive on Thursday night.
The infant has been admitted to Guwahati Medical College and Hospital (GMCH).
The infant’s mother has also been allowed to be with her child at the hospital.
The infected baby had come from Rajasthan with the parents by flight on June 3 last.
On the other hand, a priest of the Hanuman temple at Lachit Nagar has also tested COVID-19 positive.
The priest has no travel history.
Meanwhile, the number of containment zones in Guwahati rose to 35.
