The Bombay High Court on Tuesday refused to grant relief to Republic TV founder Arnab Goswami while hearing a petition filed by him seeking quashing of two FIRs filed in Nagpur and Mumbai against him.
Arnab sought exemption from appearing before the police for interrogation which was denied; but the Court has granted Goswami protection from arrest, Live Law reported.

The Mumbai Police summoned Goswami to appear before Pydhonie police station at 11am on Wednesday in connection with an FIR registered against him on May 3, Hindustan Times reports.
The FIR was registered against him for allegedly creating communal hatred, police told reporters.
Goswami has been summoned on the basis of a complaint by Irfan Abubakar Shaikh, secretary, Raza Education Welfare Society.

The FIR has been filed under sections 153 (provocation with intent to cause riot), 153A (promoting enmity between different groups), 295A (outraging religious feelings of any class of citizens), 500 (defamation), 505(2) (statements creating or promoting enmity, hatred or ill will between classes) and 120B (criminal conspiracy) of the Indian Penal Code.
On May 19, the Supreme Court had refused to transfer this case to the CBI from the Mumbai Police.
In April, the Mumbai Police had grilled Goswami for more than 12 hours at Mumbai’s NM Joshi Police station in connection with a case related to the Republic TV editor’s comments on Congress president Sonia Gandhi.
