A baby born at an institutional quarantine centre in Manipur’s Kangpokpi district has been named ‘Emmanuel Quarantine’.
The baby boy was born to couple Seilunthang Khongsai and Nengnihat Khongsai, who returned to Manipur from Goa on May 27 amid coronavirus lockdown.
“As they are under quarantine and the name of the isolation centre is Emmanuel School at Haipi village, they named the baby Emmanuel Quarantino,” an official said.
Quarantino is the first baby born at a quarantine centre in Northeast, he said.
According to reports, the health officials collected samples for the COVID-19 test on May 30 and they were tested negative.
As per reports, the couple and the new born baby have been sent for further quarantine at the Community Quarantine Centre at Chonglong Avenue in Kangpokpi.
The woman delivered the baby boy without complications on Sunday.
