With the detection of 25 new cases, the total number of persons who were tested positive for COVID-19 in Manipur has increased to 157 while number of active cases is 105, officials said on Saturday night.

“Today till 6.30 pm,14 males are confirmed as COVID-19 positive new cases at (Virus Research & Diagnosis Laboratory), JNIMS (Jawaharlal Nehru Institute of Medical Sciences). All are from Kangpokpi district.They are all returnees from Delhi. Their health conditions are stable,” said a statement issued by COVID-19 Common Control Room.

“They are being shifted to COVID care facility at JNIMS. The district authority has taken up the necessary measures like containment and contact tracing,” it said.

11 persons (2 males, 9 females) were confirmed as COVID-19 positive new cases at the VRDL, JNIMS last night.

At the same time 11 others including five females and six males are discharged from Regional Institute of Medical Sciences after testing negative for COVID-19 on Saturday, it added.

Most of the persons who were confirmed positive last night are said to be Mumbai returnees while those discharged from hospital are from Imphal West,Ukhrul, Thoubal, Bishnupur, Noney and Tamenglong.

With the latest development, the total number of positive cases in the state has increased to 157 and the number of active cases to 105,it stated. Earlier 52 have recovered and discharged.

As on June 6, a total of 15,779 persons were tested for COVID 19 while 2,54,669 were screened at various screening centres located at entry points of the state, according to latest status update on COVID-19 issued by state surveillance officer, Integrated Disease Surveillance Programme.

On the other hand 11,958 are at community quarantine centres, 6,431 at government quarantines while 11,700 including 5,773 at government quarantine.

A total of 5,927 people at community quarantine centres completed their quarantine period. There are more than 700 quarantine centres in the state.
