Security forces on Wednesday recovered an Improvised Explosive Device (IED) at Bogapani, which was wrapped in polythene.
The IED was recovered from NH 36 and it was diffused by a bomb squad of the army from Dinjan.
It is suspected that ULFA (I) had placed the IED at Bogapani to create panic among the locals.
It may be mentioned here that the Army’s bomb squad on May 29 had diffused two IEDs which were recovered from a ULFA (I) cadre in Dibrugarh.
The security forces nabbed ULFA (I) rebel- Jantu Baruah- from Tingkong area during a joint operation conducted by the Army’s 9 Rajputana Rifles and Assam police.
During the search, one 7.65mm pistol, one magazine and a live round of ammunition, two IEDs, materials used for making IEDs and one mobile phone were recovered from his possession.
The two explosive devices were then shifted to the Polo ground in Paltan Bazar area.
