Manipur chief minister N Biren Singh on Tuesday inaugurated the first project under newly introduced Hill Area Development Program (HADP) scheme of DoNER Ministry.
The inauguration of the project was conducted through video conferencing from the Chief Minister’s Secretariat, Imphal on Tuesday evening, state chief minister’s office said.
Deputy commissioner Armstrong Pame of Tamenglong district, chief medical officer Dr Chambo of Tamenglong District Hospital, staffs of the hospital and others were present during the inauguration.
The project which costs about Rs 42 lakhs was a 900 meters long road approach road to Tamenglong District Hospital.
The District rural development agenc Tamenglong constructed the project under the HADP scheme.
On the occasion, the chief minister stated that as a result of his suggestions to the Centre regarding the urgent need for a topographical-need-based budget in the states like Manipur where there are both hill and valley areas, the Centre had introduced the Hill Areas Development Fund under Ministry of DoNER.
Biren Singh also thanked Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Ministry for DoNER for fulfilling the dreams of the people.
It may be mentioned that N Biren Singh, after the installation of the BJP led government in the State, urged the Centre about the need for a topographical-need-based budget for inclusive development in the State.
Tamenglong district (including Noney) was selected under the HADP scheme in Manipur with an outlay of Rs 90 crores.
