A total of 17 power tillers were distributed among the farmers by the Agriculture department in Assam’s Chirang on Monday.

Among the 17, 11 were under Horticulture Mission for North East and Himalayan States (HMNEH) and six under National Food Security Mission (NFSM).

Ringkhang Mashahary, ADC, Chirang distributed the power tillers at a subsidized rate under these two schemes to the selected beneficiaries in a small function held at Kajalgaon in the premises of its technical section.

Addressing the farmers, ADC Mashahary expressed hope that the help from the department would surely boost the confidence of farmers.

He also advised the farmers benefited to lend a helping hand to other needy farmers so that all the farmers can work hard to increase the crop production.

During the programme, as a head of the district agriculture department, S Mushahary said the present government is taking every possible step to increase the agriculture production with active utilization of available technology in the field of agriculture sector.

Other officials of agriculture department including good number of leading farmers of the district were also present on the occasion.
