With seven new positive cases, the COVID-19 tally in Manipur has increased to 78 while the active cases increased to 67, according to Health officials.

So far 11 cases have discharged from hospital after recovery.

Confirming this officially, the state’s COVID-19 common control room in a press release issued in Imphal on Monday said four persons were confirmed as COVID-19 positive new cases at the at Virus research and diagnostic laboratory(VRDL) of Jawaharlal Nehru institute of medical sciences(JNIMS) last night.

Stating that two of them -aged about 17 and 26 years respectively, are from Senapati district and they are said to returnees from Chennai while the remaining two-both aged 18 years of age are from Bishnupur district and they are said to be returnees from Uttar Pradesh, as per the press release.

Besides three more persons were also confirmed as new COVID-19 cases at VRDL, RIMS (Regional institute of medical sciences) last night, the release said adding that the two males aged about 22 and 23years and the lone 22 year old female are all from Thoubal district.

They are returnees from Delhi, Uttar Pradesh and Hyderabad respectively.

Informing that their conditions are stable and they will be shifted to the COVID care facilities of RIMS and JNIMS,the release added that the concerned district authorities have taken up necessary measures like containment and contact tracing.

As of now the total numbers of positive and active cases have increased to 78 and 67 respectively. It may be worth mentioning here that seven others including the state’s first two cases have already discharged from the hospitals after recovery in April and May.
