Amid the scourge unleashed by coronavirus, Nagaland chief secretary Temjen Toy on Friday directed all the deputy commissioners of the state to report to his office the names and designation and other details of the officers who are not present in their respective district headquarters.

In an order, Toy said the report should reach his office by 3pm on June 1.

He warned that disciplinary proceedings will be initiated against them.

The order follows reports that the heads of many district offices are yet to report for duties in their respective district headquarters.

He said this is unacceptable and amounts to willful disobedience of government orders.

Covid-19 positive cases in Nagaland jumped to 25:

The Covid-19 positive cases in Nagaland jumped to 25 from earlier 18 with the detection of seven more cases on Friday.

Two of the seven detected positive cases are from Dimapur, four from Kohima and one from Tuensang.

All the 25 people returned from Chennai by a Special Shramik train on May 22.

The first four positive cases in the state were detected on May 26.

Taking to his official Twitter handle in the morning, health and family welfare minister S. Pangnyu Phom informed that seven persons tested positive for Covid 19.

He said Nagaland’s Covid tally now stands at 25. All are returnees from Chennai, he said.

Tuensang deputy commissioner Kumar Ramnikant, in a release, on Friday said one person at Sao Chang College Quarantine Centre has tested positive for Covid-19.

He has been admitted to district Covid hospital in Tuensang and contact tracing has been initiated.

As per the latest report, Ramnikant said the person is asymptomatic and in stable condition.

He said the total number of positive cases in Tuensang stands at five on Friday.
