A total of 9 persons were injured and the mass screening-cum-quarantine centre, located near Sagolia check gate along Assam-Bengal border was damaged as a severe storm hit the area on Tuesday.
The huge screening centre at Sagolia has been set up to screen all the people, who enter Assam from other states, for COVID19.

In the screening centre, all the people, after entering the state through Sagolia gate, have to get their names registered and screened.
The storm in the early hours of Tuesday damaged the makeshift arrangements in the centre.
The roof, made of plastic materials, was also torn due to the storm.

Besides, the chairs and tables in the centre were also damaged.
The Sagolia institutional quarantine centre is a temporary arrangement for mass quarantine of the returnees.
The damaged parts of the centre were repaired on a war footing and the service was restored in the evening hours.
Officials sources said rain waters entered inside the facility where more than 850 inmates are being quarantined.
“At least 9 of the inmates in the quarantine centre sustained minor injuries and they were taken to the nearby primary health centres located in Halakura and Agomoni,” sources said.
The affected inmates of the quarantine facility have been shifted to the nearby schools and other mass quarantine facilities as a temporary measure.
But by the evening, all persons were brought back to the designated centre.
Dhubri deputy Commissioner Annata Lal Gyani also visited the screening-cum-quarantine centre soon after the devastation caused by the storm and directed the officials to repair the damaged facilities.
Gyani said all the injured persons were admitted to the nearby health centre and their conditions are stable.
According to the persons staying in the Sagolia quarantine centre, the storm started in the early hours of Tuesday and intensified at around 3 am when the maximum destruction took place.
The joint director of health service, Dhubri, Dr SM Emdad Ullah said till Tuesday, a total of 40,774 people have been screened at the Sagolia screening centre while a total of 13,055 people have so far been kept in 119 mass institutional quarantine centres across the district.
Dhubri has registered a total of 13 COVID19 positive cases, out of which five patients have been discharged after their recovery.
