A newborn, wrapped in a plastic sack and left abandoned in a drain, was rescued in Dimapur on Sunday.
The baby body was found by a passerby on the western side of the State Stadium.
According to sources, the passerby heard a baby crying when he went out in search of his cow.
It was around 2.40 pm on Sunday when the passerby heard the baby crying.
He immediately called some local youths and rescued the baby.
Later, they took the baby to the Women Police Station.
With the help of the women police, the baby was brought to Nikos hospital for check-up.
The doctor advised the baby to be admitted to the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) for observation till its condition becomes stable.
According to reports, the baby has been admitted to the NICU of a hospital in Dimapur.
A media report quoted a police official saying that the boy appears to have born in hospital as a clip was found on its umbilical cord.
The police official said investigation is on.
The Childline team of Dimapur and police are currently taking care of the baby.
The baby was found in Dimapur, the commercial hub of Nagaland, just a day after a newborn was found abandoned in Kohima.
