The district administration of Chirang has set up 9 more Covid Care Centres (CCCs) at 9 different locations for quarantining the returnees coming from other states by train.
The centres have been set up at Kajalgaon High School, Dhaligaon High School, Chapaguri ME School, Baikhungaon Satipur ME Madrassa, UN Brahma Jr. College, UN Brahma College in Kajalgaon Sadar Sub-Division.
In Bijni Civil Sub-Division, the centres have been set up at Bijni Sishu Kalyan High School, Zakir Hussain Public High School and Ambedkar Bhawan.
With this facilities becoming functional, the district is now capable of giving over 750 quarantine facilities to the people while the district had only 135 institutional quarantine facilities.
According to the Standard Operation Procedure (SOP) of the Assam health department, the district has arranged these centers for medical screening as well as collecting swab samples of all the non-symptomatic people coming back to Assam by train from various parts of the country.
All train passengers coming to Assam with non-symptomatic conditions will be first put in the Corona Care Centres and then they will be asked to be tested for COVID19 and as such.
If they are tested negative, the returnees will be allowed to go for home quarantine after stamping on hands.
The total quarantine period for all train passengers is not less than 14 days.
Chirang deputy commissioner Gautam Talukdar has instructed the officials engaged at Corona Care Centres to arrange for food, drinking water and other required facilities for these people.
As on Monday, as many as 65 train passengers came from other states and they have been put in the Corona Care Centres in the district.
