In order to scout inborn young talents in various disciplines, the Sports Authority of India (SAI) started a two-day selection trial at the SAI Special Area Games Centre, Kanthalguri in Kokrajhar on Saturday.
According to information, around 1200 participants including both boys and girls from various districts across the State like Tinsukia, Lakhimpur, Goalpara, Barpeta, Jarhat, Udalguri, Baksa, Chirang and Kokrajhar have thronged to get selected in various disciplines at the SAI Special Area Games Centre in Kokrajhar.
Pradip Brahma, the in-charge of the SAI, Kokrajhar said, “The two-day young talents’ selection trial programme is being conducted to pick up players for different disciplines of sports.”
Brahma added, “The players will be selected for disciplines like archery, athletics, boxing, football, judo, karate, taekwondo, wushu (boys and girls), kabaddi and hockey (girls).”
He also said that all the participants will have to provide educational qualification and age proof certificates, medical fitness certificates and sports achievement certificates during the selection trial and talented boys and girls would be selected with their performance against different age groups.
