Aaranyak on Friday joined hands with Assam State Legal Services Authority (ASLSA) to provide 500 cotton homemade masks to Assam State Zoo.-cum-Botanical Garden.
In a brief ceremony on Friday morning, ASLSA executive chairman Justice N Kotiswar Singh of Gauhati High Court graced the occasion using video call.
Participating in the video conference, Justice Kotiswar Singh said, “The time is very difficult.”
“However, we have to discharge our responsibility and continue with our designated activities in spite of the difficulties posed by the unprecedented challenge of the global pandemic,” he added.
ASLSA member secretary Nayan Sankar Barua along with District & Session Judge of Kamrup Mitali Thakuria and Aaranyak CEO Bibhab Talukdar handed over the masks to Tejas Mariswamy, Divisional Forest Officer and Sankar Sarma, zoo’s veterinary officer.
The event was also attended by Additional District Judge Millikan Dutta, ASLSA deputy secretary Tripti Arie and under-secretary Ayushree Shravan, Manas Bhattacharjya, Manager of Legal & Advocacy Division of Aaranyak and Jayanta Pathak, Manager, Environmental Education and Capacity Building Division of Aaranyak.
The ASLSA officials wanted to know the kind of legal challenges that Zoo officials or wildlife officials face while exercising their duties.
