Eight more COVID19 patients were discharged from hospitals in Assam after their complete recovery.
With these cases, the total number of discharged COVID19 patients in Assam now stands at 27.
Assam so far has registered 35 COVID19 positive cases.
The deadly virus claimed one person in Assam.
The state currently has only 7 active COVID19 cases.
Confirming this on Sunday, Assam health minister Himanta Biswa Sarma said the 8 COVID19 patients were discharged from the hospitals after their samples were found negative for the virus in 3-4 successive tests.
However, they will have to remain under the health department’s observation for the next 14 days.
On Sunday Golaghat’s four COVID19 patients were discharged from the Kushal Konwar Civil Hospital in Golaghat and 3 patients from Dhubri were discharged from Mahendra Mohan Choudhury Hospital (MMCH) in Guwahati.
One COVID19 patient from Nalbari was discharged from Mahendra Mohan Choudhury Hospital (MMCH) in Guwahati.
While addressing a press conference at the state office of the National Health Mission in Guwahati, minister Sarma said: “With the discharge of 8 more COVID19 patients, the state now has only 7 actives cases.”
He also announced that they would be able to discharge some of the active cases after their recovery before April 30.
The minister informed that even after discharge of so many patients from the hospitals, the first COVID19 positive patient, Jamal Uddin, is yet to be released.
“He (Jamal Uddin) is undergoing treatment in Silchar Medical College Hospital and his samples continue to test positive,” the minister added.
