The bail plea of Dhing MLA Aminul Islam was rejected by the Nagaon district sessions court on Thursday.
The All India United Democratic Front (AIUDF) MLA was arrested by Nagaon police for controversial comments on COVID19 quarantine centres.
On behalf of Islam, advocate Abul Hussain applied for his bail in the district sessions court of Nagaon on Wednesday.
However, the court rejected the bail plea on Thursday.
The court has ordered that Islam be kept under quarantine inside the jail for 14 days.
According to sources, the court has fixed April 18 as the next date for hearing on the case.
Islam was arrested by Nagaon Sadar Police on April 7.
On the same day, he was produced before the court of the chief judicial magistrate of Nagaon district which remanded him to 14-day judicial custody.

Nagaon Sadar Police has registered a case No 877/2020 under sections 120B/153(A)/124(A)/295(A) of the Indian Penal Code (IPC).
In an audio clip, Islam was heard saying that the quarantine centres, established by the state government to keep the COVID19 suspected cases, are more dangerous than the detention centres.
The Dhing MLA said the medical staff members at the quarantine centres were harassing the ones who had returned from Nizamuddin Markaz and that they were giving injections to the healthy ones to stage them as sick and coronavirus patients, said reports citing the audio clip that has surfaced.
The MLA’s comments outraged different sections of the society as the Assam government had been trying its best to contain the spread of deadly COVID19 virus.
It was alleged that the AIUDF MLA was trying to mislead the Muslim people of the state.
Earlier, the Dhing MLA claimed no one present at Nizamuddin Markaz had been tested positive with coronavirus and that there was no connection of Nizamuddin Markaz with the spread of the disease.
It may be mentioned that Assam has registered a total of 28 COVID19 positive cases and most of the cases have links with the Tablighi Jamaat in Delhi’s Nizamuddin Markaz.
