Amid the nation-wide COVID-19 lockdown and indefinite postponement of BTC polls, both the Bodoland People’s Front (BPF) and its major contender, United People’s Party Liberal (UPPL) have indulged in blame game and mud-slinging with allegations of violation of model code of conduct.
UPPL members have written several letters to State Election Commissioner, Alok Kumar alleging violation of model code of conduct by BPF members across the Bodo belt where in there have been allegations of distribution of rations, blankets in Khoirabari of Udalguri district by BPF members.
BPF members have also alleged violation of model code of conduct by UPPL stating that UPPL members have been conducting election campaigning in remote villages of the Bodo belt.

BTC supremo Hagrama Mohillary have also stated of dashing off a letter to the Election Commission against Pramod Boro for holding two voter ID cards violating norms.
The Khalingduar Block Committee of BPF of Khalingduar BTC constituency in Udalguri district has alleged that the UPPL members have been conducting election campaigning in remote villages under the constituency in the wake of indefinite postponement of BTC polls and lockdown to prevent the outbreak of corornavirus.
In a press statement signed by in-charge president, Dwithun Baro and general secretary, Sankar Sarkar alleged that in lieu of conducting awareness drive against the coronavirus pandemic in villages, election campaigning has been going on violating the model code of conduct of BTC polls in force.
Talking to this correspondent, Sankar Sarkar said, “We have already written to the State Election Commissioner seeking exemplary action in this regard.”
