For the convenience of the people of Kamrup (Metro) district, the administration has decided to provide vegetables through mobile vans in alternate days.
The move comes after the people defied lockdown and social distancing protocol and thronged the vegetable markets on Friday to buy vegetables.

Following the chaotic situations on Friday, the district administration decided to shut down the vegetable stores across Assam.

On Thursday, Assam Chief Minister Sarbananda Sonowal had said that apart from grocery stores, fish, meat, fruit stores and vegetable markets will remain open during the lockdown period.
As per the instructions, Assam chief secretary Kumar Sanjay Krishna on Friday issued fresh directives on the availability of the essential commodities.

The government’s directives come following huge rush in vegetable markets in Guwahati, where social distance was hardly maintained.
