A screen grab from the viral clip

Is coronavirus a planned attack or is it a natural virus? This question has boggled the minds of the people since the beginning of the outbreak.

Supporting it to be biowarfare, a number of conspiracy theories have also been proposed.

Amid the rising conspiracy theories, Netflix users across the globe have come across a bizarre coincidence connecting the current situation with the plot of a 2018 South Korean drama series.

My Secret Terrius (MST) is a 2018 drama series and the coronavirus pandemic was predicted in Episode 10 of its Season 1.

MSTโ€™s synopsis reads, โ€œA secret agent who detaches himself from the world after a failed operation tries to unravel the mystery behind a neighbourโ€™s death.โ€

The story develops as an intriguing murder mystery but in Episode 10 of Season 1, the plot comes to a discussion over the coronavirus.

In the 53rd minute of the episode, a doctor hands over some documents to a character and tells her, โ€œWe must do more research, but it looks like a mutant coronavirus.โ€

โ€œCorona? Then MERS?โ€ the second character replies.

โ€œMERS, SARS, the common flu. They all fall in the same gene family with the same gene information,โ€ the doctor says.

โ€œThe coronavirus attacks the respiratory system. During the 2015 MERS epidemic, the mortality rate was over 20 per cent,โ€ the doctor adds on.

โ€œBut thatโ€™s not serious enough to be used as a weapon. Am I wrong?โ€ the second character asks.

To this the doctor replies, โ€œLike I said, this is a mutant virus. Someone tweaked it to increase the mortality rate to 90 per cent.โ€

The clip has gone viral in social media.

The series, however, is not available in India.

MST is the second international series, after Steven Soderberghโ€™s 2011 film Contagion, which is in the news for having a similar storyline.
