In a preventive measure to contain the outbreak and spread of coronavirus, the Mizoram government on Saturday ordered a partial lockdown across the state.
In a memorandum, the general administration department declared that the partial lockdown has been imposed in all districts from Sunday till March 29.
During this period, no person except those on official duty, medical, essential service and essential commodities service would be allowed to venture outside.
The notification was issued following the decision of state-level task force on mitigation of coronavirus and subsequent approval by the state cabinet on Saturday late evening.
The notification said that all business shops barring pharmacies and those selling essential commodities will remain closed.
It stated that all public transports and private vehicles will stay off the road during the lockdown period.
However, ambulance, fire and emergency service, vehicles used for law and order, those for accredited journalists and electronic media, medical duty used to contain coronavirus spread and essential commodities are exempted from the ban.
The order also banned all international and inter-state borders. However, vehicles transporting essential commodities are exempted.
Meanwhile, GoAir has suspended its operation following the stare-wide lockdown until further order.
Officials said that other airlines are yet to Intimate about the suspension of flights.
