The latest lab report of the four-year-old Jorhat girl, who on Saturday was declared as the first coronavirus patient of Assam, reveals that she is not infected with the virus.

In the latest report, the Regional Viral Research & Diagnostic Laboratory (RVRDL) has clearly stated that the child is not suffering from COVID-19.
Confirming the report, Assam health minister Himanta Bswa Sarma said, “The 4-year-old child who was suspected of COVID-19 and tested in Jorhat Medical College and Regional Medical Research Center, Dibrugarh has been found negative.”
“So far, there is no coronavirus positive case in Assam so far,” he added.
On Saturday, Jorhat deputy commissioner Roshni A Korati said a four-and-half-years old girl tested positive for novel coronavirus at Jorhat Medical College and Hospital laboratory.
A second sample was also sent to RVRDL and in this sample, the test for coronavirus came out negative.
The girl, who is a resident of Pulibor, had arrived in Assam from Bihar on Thursday.
