As preventive measures to contain the spread of coronavirus, the Assam government has issued an order to close all bars, night clubs, beauty parlours and salons.
On Wednesday, an advisory was issued in this regard to all the deputy commissioners of Assam by Simanta Kr Das, the joint secretary to the Assam government, home & political department.

In the advisory to the DCs, the joint secretary said: “In view of the worldwide outspread of the COVID-19 disease, I am directed to request you to kindly issue necessary instructions from your end for social distancing and closure of all liquor bar (county bar) nightclub, beauty parlours/salon (unisex) immediately, as a precautionary measure for effective prevention/ contamination of the virus within the state.”
“An early action in this regard is highly solicited in order to mitigate this outbreak effectively,” the advisory said.
Earlier, through a W.T. message, the excise commissioner, Assam, asked the superintendents of excise, deputy superintendents of excise and the deputy commissioners concerned in the state to immediately take action for closing the IMFL shops till March 31.
Meanwhile, all educational institutions, both government and private, cinema halls, swimming pools, and gyms have been closed in Assam till March 29 as a precautionary measure to check community transmission of novel coronavirus (COVID-19).
