The two-day Manipur Institute of Management Studies (MIMS) Silver Jubilee Celebration Cum Management Convention on ‘India’s Act East Policy & North Eastern Region’was organized by MIMS, Manipur University held at its auditorium on Monday.

Education minister Dr Thokchom Radheshyam, administrator Jarnail Singh of Manipur University, former vice chancellors of Manipur University Prof H Tombi, Dr Ng Bijoy, Prof C Amuba, Prof HNK Singh, besides MIMS director Dr Ch Ibohal were present during inaugural function of the convention.

Speaking on the occasion, minister Th Radheshyam Singh said it is important to groom the young minds as job creators to bring a constructive change and development in the State.

For small state like Manipur, it is high time to identify the subjects and areas to serve the humanity at global circuit, he said.

Commending the faculties of the institute, Radheshyam expressed that the Manipur University’s MIMS has been able to change the mindset of the people, especially the students who have come to pursue management studies in the department.

He said the institute has widened the horizon of entrepreneurship as many of the alumni of the institution have become reputed entrepreneurs in the State.

He added that these entrepreneurs are job providers who have changed the outlook of looking for jobs.

In his speech, administrator of MU Jarnail Singh opined on the need to give emphasis on quantitative skills for analysis.

He expressed that if focus is given on these quantitative skills and students can master in these skills, then they will be able to analyze any issue and make policy for the government or for business.

He advised the students to be very competent and solid in the quantitative skills to be able to suggest and improve the productivity and profitability.

Apart from facilitating the special invitees from industry and academicians during the function, a compendium was also released.
