The Dinanath Pandey Smart Idea Innovation Award 2018 was conferred to Karuna Kanta Nath of Darang for his various innovative equipment showcased at the two-day Innovation Festival organised by Regional Science Centre in Guwahati from February 10.
The festival that concluded on Sunday showcased 25 innovative projects from entire northeast region and West Bengal.
Nath had earlier received President’s award in 2005 for creating unique manual wood cutting machine.
During the innovation festival Nath showcased various unique ideas like manual rice grinding machine, and bamboo slicing machine.
Late Dinanath Pandey was a renowned innovator of the state who invented various technical machines which helped in transforming Assam. The Regional Science Centre and the science fraternity remember him every year and confer the award on his name to the new innovators who are working to transform the society with their smart innovation.
The award was presented by senior journalist Manoj Kumar Goswami, wife of late Dinanath Pandey Putu Devi and other renowned scientists.
