In view of the prevailing law and order situation, curfew has been reimposed in Shillong agglomeration and adjoining areas with effect from Friday 10 pm to Saturday 5 am.
The order, however, will not apply in Bara Bazar, Paltan Bazar, Stand Jeep from District Council Point leading to Motphran areas and up to YMCA, Iew Mawlong and areas falling under entire Police Bazar, including the road from Umsohsun Bridge up to Lad for which separate orders are being used.
As per the order, curfew has been imposed in Sohra areas from Friday 6 pm to Saturday morning.
In Shella areas, curfew has been imposed from Friday 2 pm to Saturday 7 pm.
On Friday, a conciliatory meeting was held at Khliehshnong, Sohra, between NGOs and traditional heads of Sohra and Shella areas.
The meeting discussed on issues related to ‘Benami’ wor permits and trade license etc.
The meeting was attended by the Syiem of Sohra Pa-iem Freeman Sing Syiem, KSU president Lambokstar Marngar, KSU GS Donald Thabah and several other local leaders.
It was attended by around 300 people.
