Former Chief Minister of Mizoram and party chief of Mizo National Front (MNF) Zoramthanga said his party will find the upcoming Assembly elections later this year alone.
Addressing media persons Serchip district, Zoramthanga rubbished reports of forging an alliance with Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) in the press conference jointly organized by East and West blocks of MNF Hrangturzo in North Vanlaiphai village of Serchhip district.
“We are no way associated with the BJP or any other party. We will fight the elections alone and will never forge a pre-poll alliance,” the MNF chief said.
Zoramthanga also asserted that his party’s ideology is different from that of the BJP adding his party does not endorse the propaganda of the saffron party either.
Ironically, however, MNF is part of the BJP-led North East Democratic Alliance (NEDA).
Citing examples of earlier alliances of the MNF with parties like Zoram National Party (ZNP), led by Lalduhoma and Mizoram People’s Conference (MPC), led by Lalhmangaiha Sailo, the former Chief Minister said, “We have learnt from our past mistakes and understood the futility of pre-poll alliance.
He also said the Congress has lost the goodwill of the people of Mizoram for its faulty policies.
He further said that if voted to power, his government will endeavour to provide economic growth opportunities to every household through socio-economic development policy.
“Every household of the State will stand to gain from Rs five to Rs 15 lakhs annually,” he added.
