Sikkimese strength lifters have clinched 22 medals for the country in the eighth International Strength Lifting & Inclined Bench Press Championship 2020 held in Bangkok of Thailand.

Twelve strength lifters of Sikkim in team India have bagged 17 gold medals, four silver medals and one bronze medals for the country.

Likewise, Sikkimese lifter, Pema Dorjee Bhutia has been adjudged as the Champion of Champions in master category, while another strength lifter from Sikkim, Pempa Tamang has set the record in inclined bench press by lifted a total weight of 252.05 Kgs in master’s category.

In the championship, Chandra Kumar Chettri, Pema Dorjee Bhutia, Ram Dhoj Rai, Pempa Tamang, Santosh Gupta, Madhu M Majhi and Manisha Tiwari bagged two gold medals each for the country.

Homnath Siwakoti, Kalpana Chettri and Bhim Raj Gurung won one gold medal and one silver medal in the championship.

Likewise, Kishore Dungmali Rai clinched one silver medal and one bronze medal for the country.

Sikkimese strength lifters were the part of 67-member India team in this international championship.
