Manipur chief minister N Biren Singh on Saturday appealed to the militant outfits in the state to come overground for talks to bring peace.
N Biren made the appeal when reporters sought his comment on Manipur’s context in the wake of the signing of Bodo Accord in Assam on the sidelines of an event in Imphal.
Stating that bringing the solution to the Bodo issue (in Assam) was a big achievement, N Biren said conflicts in the world are resolved through peace and political dialogues.
Responding to a further question from the reporters, the Manipur CM said he wants the central government to initiate talks first and set the conditions.
Earlier, the Manipur CM attended an interactive session with the students of the Chief Minister’s Coaching Scheme (CMCS) for Civil Service Aspirants at the GM Hall in Imphal.
He said the purpose of getting education is not to go after government jobs but to become responsible citizens.
The Manipur CM further said the CMCS was introduced with an objective to provide the much-needed support to those deserving and meritorious students of the state.
“It is indeed a matter of happiness that many students, who come from humble backgrounds, are getting the benefits of the scheme,” he added.
Stating that the primary objective of the present government is to fulfill the aspirations of the people, CM said the government has implemented human-oriented schemes such as CMHT for the welfare of the people.
He added that around 1.5 lakh families have been benefited so far under the CMHT, which is a state-sponsored health scheme.
During the day’s function, the students introduced themselves before the CM.
The students expressed their gratitude to the CM and his government for implementing such a noble scheme.
The CMCS for Civil Services Coaching worth over Rs 1 crore was launched in March last year.
Under this scheme, the state government will provide 100% scholarship to 150 selected civil service aspirants to realise their dreams.
The scheme is being collaborated with the Delhi-based Alternative Learning System (ALS)-IAS Coaching Institute under its Corporate Social Responsibility programme.
