NEDA convenor Himanta Biswa Sarma on Wednesday officially released the joint statement of the BJP-IPFT alliance for the upcoming Tripura legislative assembly election signed by party presidents of both the parties in Agartala. In their joint statement both the parties alleged the state has remained underdeveloped despite 25 years of Left Front rule in the Tripura.
“Their politics is underlined by a strategy of keeping the people poor, uneducated and deprived so that people do not demand their basic rights,” the statement said.
The Assam Minister who is also the BJP in-charge of Tripura election said the ongoing initiative of the Home Affairs for construction of inter-ministerial High Level Committee for in-depth studies of Socio-Economic, Educational, Cultural and Linguistic status of the indigenous tribal population of Tripura will be completed at the earliest. The committee will submit its report within a scheduled time frame and the CPI-M led Left Front is trying to mislead the people of the state by spreading lies and terming it as an initiative to divide Tripura.
Sarma was of the opinion that BJP -IPFT alliance on assuming power and forming government will go into the functioning of the TTAADC and investigate into all cases of corruptions.
He assured both the parties will use peaceful and constitutional means to demand socio-economic, educational, cultural and linguistic rights of the people and jointly work for a lasting, real and substantive prosperity and peace of the people of Tripura.
The Assam Minister said a section of young tribal people has adopted the wrong path of insurgency as they feel that justice has not been done to them. But those youths should also be given an opportunity to return to the normal life. The CPI-M which has deprived the tribal people from their basic rights is constantly marginalizing them in order to keep the issue alive and to take political mileage out of that by dividing the tribals and non-tribals.
He said BJP is not ready to negotiate with the militant leaders rather wants the immature youths used by these leaders should be given a chance to return to normal life.
However, the ruling CPI-M led Left Front has projected the BJP-IPFT alliance as the biggest threat to the peace, prosperity and unity of the Tripura on the ground that IPFT is the overground organization of the banned NLFT militants and is trying to divide Tripura by demanding separate tribal state Twipraland.
