The education scenario in Manipur has gone for a toss as after the government school teachers, it is now the college teachers who have threatened to go on cease work from Monday.
The government college teachers of Manipur, who have been protesting since January 28 under the banner of FEGOCTA, on Saturday announced that government doesn’t fulfil their demands then they will intensify their strike.
Federation of Government College Teachers’ Association Manipur or FEGOCTA is an association of the government college teachers of Manipur.
Their primary demand is the revision of pay structure as per the 7th Pay Scale Commission.
“From Monday, even though we will go to our respective colleges, however, we will abstain from taking classes and will not do any academic-related activities,” the FEGOCTA said.
“However, examination-related activities will not e hampered,” they said.
The FEGOCTA leaders also announced taking out rallies in support of their demands in Imphal on Thursday.
“It’s not good for the overall education scenario of the state. If teachers go on strike, the students will be badly affected,” said Amar Sarma, a Class XII student while speaking to Northeast Now.
