The silver jubilee celebration of Kuki Students’ Organization (KSO) Leimata was held at L Gelmol Village in Henglep of Manipur’s Churachandpur district.
Social welfare and cooperation minister Nemcha Kipgen, chairman T Thangjalam Haokip of Hill Area Committee (HAC), members Khousabung, Seilenmang Khongsai and Leimata, Thangboi Haokip of Autonomous District Council (ADC) were present during the day’s celebration.
Speaking on the occasion, minister Nemcha urged the KSO, Leimata to spearhead the youths towards the path of education as educating today’s youth will further develop the society at large in the long run.
Citing the examples of many famous sports personalities of Manipur, she stressed the importance of sports for the youths to maintain a healthy and disciplined lifestyle and also bringing accolades for themselves as well as the nation.
Stating that education is one of the main factors that stimulate the social and all-round development in the society, Nemcha also drew the attention of all to express that women who are the epitome of love should also be included in decision making as their participation will incite the sense of peace, love and unity.
She also encouraged the women to execute their talents and be a part of building our society towards development.
Highlighting the state’s government programmes like ‘Go to Village’ and ‘Go to Hills’, social welfare minister encouraged the CSOs/students’ bodies mainly in the remote and far flung areas to take forth and give awareness about the various governmental schemes and programmes to all the people residing in such places.
Nemcha asserted that the government is continuously striving for balanced and inclusive development for all the people.
She also appealed to all not to opt for any forms of illegal activities like opium cultivation or poppy plantation as their source of income; instead avail the various schemes and programmes of the government.
As part of the day’s celebration, minister Nemcha Kipgen unveiled the Jubilee Monolith to mark the occasion.
