The Guwahati city police and the civil administration have lined up slew of measures to check drunken driving on New Year eve.
Special flying squads have also been formed to prevent any untoward activities on the New Year eve in the city.
The police administration has asked all the deputy commissioners of police (DCPs) to keep a tab on rash driving and over-speeding of two-wheelers on the city roads as well as the highways.
The traffic wing has also chalked out a roadmap to address the movement of vehicular traffic and keep a close eye on the rules violators, especially the motorists.
The Excise department has also constituted teams to monitor the wine shops and bars so that they do not operate beyond the permissible limit.
Sources further stated that the administration has already issued an advisory to hotels, restaurants, pubs and discotheques.
