Three persons were arrested by Jorhat police on Sunday from different locations on charges of being involved in the smuggling of drugs.
The police also recovered narcotic drugs from the possession of one of the arrested trio.

Police sources informed that Dipen Das was the first suspected drug smuggler, who was arrested from his house at Huanigaon near river Bhogdoi.
From the possession of Dipen Das, the police recovered and seized 36 gm of suspected brown sugar.
Earlier in April this year, the Jorhat police had arrested Dipen Das in an arms case after a pistol was recovered from his possession.

Police later apprehended two other suspected drug smugglers – Janardan Das and Suraj Das – separately from two localities of Borigaon on charges of peddling narcotic drugs.
Both of them were also arrested by the police earlier and were sent to the judicial custody for their involvement in criminal activities, police source informed Northeast Now.
The sources said all the three persons have been booked under relevant sections of the Narcotics Drugs and Psychotropic Substances Act.
The samples of the drug substance found in the possession of Dipen Das will be sent for examination to the State Forensic Science Laboratory in Guwahati, the police sources stated.
