Two ultra-marathon runners from Sikkim are all set to participate in the Ultra Marathon Bengaluru to be held on 22 December.
Marathon man of Sikkim, Amar Subba and his student, Shiva Hang Limboo will participate in 50 K category of this ultra-marathon.
They are leaving for Bengaluru on Friday.
The event is being organized by Bengaluru-based NEB Sports.
Addressing a press conference in Gangtok on Thursday, Amar Subba said, “Although I am not much prepared for the marathon this time following my social engagements but I have decided to participate and finish 50K within five hours.”
However, he expressed his much hope and expectation of better performance from his student, Shiva Hang in this ultra-marathon.
“I have much expectation from my student to finish the marathon in top three place,” he said.
He informed that the top three winners in the competition would also qualify for an international-level 100K marathon.
Subba is presently preparing other long-distance runners of the State for the upcoming marathon of NEB Sports in Kolkata next year.
Twentythree-year-old Shiva Hang Limboo hails from Timbrong under Yuksom-Tashiding constituency in West Sikkim.
He finished 12-hours Stadium Run at Delhi last year on the second position by covering the distance of 119 km and after that this was his major ultra-marathon participation.
“I have undergone through rigorous training and routine prepared by my coach for last two months,” he expressed.
I have kept a target to finish the marathon within four hours to stand on the top three position and to get qualify for the international 100K marathon,” he added.
He also expressed his gratitude to all individuals for their support to participate in the event.
