Nagaland governor RN Ravi will take oath as the governor of Meghalaya on Tuesday.
The swearing-in will be held at the Raj Bhavan, Shillong at 12 noon.
Ravi will continue to discharge the functions of the governor of Nagaland.
Ravi has been given the responsibility of the Meghalaya governor as Tathagata Roy has gone on leave.
The development came at a time when Roy’s controversial tweets sparked reactions in Meghalaya.
Roy had tweeted that the country was once divided in the name of religion. “Democracy is necessarily divisive and if you do not want it go to North Korea,” he tweeted.
Two things should never be lost sight of in the present atmosphere of controversy.
1. The country was once divided in the name of religion.
2. A democracy is NECESSARILY DIVISIVE. If you don’t want it go to North Korea.— Tathagata Roy (@tathagata2) December 13, 2019
Differences also cropped up between governor Roy and chief minister Conrad Sangma over his refusal to sign an ordinance passed by the State Cabinet seeking mandatory registration of outsiders entering the state.

Earlier, Roy also stated that no state government can legally have a view of the Citizenship Amendment Bill (CAB) and opposition to the bill is the “height of absurdity.”
Roy had tweeted: “Regarding the Citizenship Amendment Bill(CAB) CONSTITUTIONAL POSITION is that as per Entry 17 of the Union List of the 7th Schedule to the Constitution, CITIZENSHIP IS A CENTRAL SUBJECT. NO STATE GOVT CAN THEREFORE LEGALLY HAVE A VIEW ON CAB. Political parties and individuals can.”
