Congress MLA from Assam’s Mariani, Rupjyoti Kurmi on Tuesday protested against the various problems of the State by writing about it in his own blood during the ongoing session of the Assam Legislative Assembly.
Kurmi protested against the BJP-led government’s move to hand over two paper mills, a tea garden, and a fertilizer firms to private companies.
No security personnel, however, stopped him as he was seen cutting his own hand and voicing his anger in the form of words in a placard with his own blood.
“In the name of Jati, Mati, Bheti we would not allow to sell off Assamese sentiments and future,” Kurmi wrote in blood.
“Joi Aai Axom,” he further wrote.
However, some words were already printed on the placard before the Congress MLA wrote his opinion in the placard.
“Nagaon, Cachar paper mills, Namrup Fertilizer Plant and Hatimari Tea Estate- these industries are the lifelines of the people of Assam,” the placard stated.
“These industries provide employment to a number of people,” it further stated.
