Greater Kameng Badminton Championship

Tawang Badminton Club emerged as the overall team champions of the 9th edition of the Greater Kameng Badminton Championship (GKBC) which came to an end at Nafra near Bomdila recently.

Tawang edged past defending champions Officers’ Club Seppa by a whopping 95 points to take the title while the Multi Sports Indoor Club Bomdila from West Kameng came second with 74 points.

In all, seven clubs from the 4 districts of East Kameng, West Kameng, East Kameng, Pakke Kesang and Tawang participated in the championship.

The championship was organized by the Greater Kameng Badminton Association (GKBA) at the Sungdi Badminton Stadium.

The final event of the coveted tournament was witnessed by union minister of state for sports and youths affairs Kiren Rijiju, Dirang MLA Phurpa Tsering and Bomdila MLA Dongru Siongju.

The guests in their speeches appreciated the initiative of the GKBA and encouraged the shuttlers to work hard and strive for more success in their field and lives.

GKBA president Aju Khonjuju and other executive members of the president also spoke.

The next edition of the GKBC will be played at Dirang in West Kameng district.
